    ilon vision undocumented features

I'm using CS4 (version 5) and iLON Vision with an e3 plus to create a web user interface and have experienced the following issues of frustration, Is anyone else seeing these?

    • CS4 crashes unexpectedly and often - I lose all of my work and have to start over - work around-save often
    • You can't copy and paste a datapoint object and then subsequently edit that object's properties - work around- don't edit
    • If you drop a show value datapoint and then go back and try to edit it's properties - you can't move it - location remains fixed - workaround don't edit or delete and start over
    • When you select an ilon object, you have to click the 'show value' etc boxes twice to select it. - just irritating, I like to conserve clicks.
    • Alignment tools are horrible - data point object values do not align to cells in tables - no workaround found
    • I insert a layer from the ilon menu and the insert background object dialog opens. The layer object is completely unusable making complex graphics creation very difficult if not impossible! - no workaround found

OK, here's the workaround for the missing layer object. Insert a 'show value' object but do not select a datapoint. You should be able to insert a graphic inside and set the Z value for the layer.

    Hi Greg

You could try the following: Use iLON Vision CS4 to add all the iLON vision objects (with all specific parameters like datapoints, substitiution values ...) you need to your page, but don bother with layout. When you're done with that, safeyour page and quit CS4 (the actual problem is Adobe's CS4, not iLON Vision). Then use a better HTML editor than Contribute to do the layout. It's all pure standard HTML with some custom attributes. If your editor leaves these attributes alone, everything should be fine.

     Regards

Thorsten, which editor do you use? I've been trying various HTML editors and have not found one (including Dreamweaver) that works. It's ugly. If you guys (Echelon) can't fix iLON Vision and/or come up with a compatible editor then I'll have to go with alternative products.

Web Gen 8 worked much easier.

Don't know why it's not compatible withh the Ilon 3e
