Number of Calendar exceptions limited to 50?

    Hello,

We realized that the Calendar on the SmartServer can't be configured (with the configuration web pages) for more than 50 exception dates. When we add the 51st exception, all the schedules on the other exception dates are lost (=if we click on a scheduler in the Smartserver tree and then click on the 'Exception Schedules' we can't find all the schedules created before). If we delete the 51st exception it works right again.

We also realized that normally, dates that have an exception schedule defined are marked with a colored box around the date. If the number of exceptions exceeds a certain value, that doesn't work correctly anymore. We still can see the schedules if we click on the date, but there is no colored box around it, indicating that there is a schedule defined for that date.

We also realized that creating exceptions wiht the configuration web page is very, very slow if you have more than just a few exceptions.

    Regards,

    Daniel

Re: Number of Calendar exceptions limited to 50?

I agree that the UI response time suffers a great deal as the number of exceptions increases.  Are you actually defining more than 50 exceptions in advance?  It seems an alternate UI other than a Web UI may be required to efficiently define large numbers of exception schedules.  Could you be more specific about the types of exceptions you are defining? Are you simply defining large numbers of exceptions that are one time date ranges?  When you schedule exceptions, what are the typical number of events?

Re: Number of Calendar exceptions limited to 50?

    Hello Rob,

I tried to define 54 exceptions each one has three events (including the 'LOCK'). 36 exceptions are once-a-year, 18 exceptions are once-a-month. While waiting for a solution to that problem I continue to work with only 50 exceptions, otherwise it won't work.

My goal is to predefine all the exceptions needed with the Web UI. Later, our customers may change the configuration of the schedules with our VB.NET application.

I also realised that with 'BasicHttpBinding' there is a parameter 'MaxReceivedMessageSize' which is by default set to 65536. That is not enough to read a calendar with these 50 exceptions. Therefore I had to increase the 'MaxReveivedMessageSize'. I think that this should also be included in the VB.NET examples.

    Best regards,

    Daniel

    Hello,

just a short message to inform you, that the calendar issue has been solved with the new SR 4.02.054. The SmartServer WebPage also works much better (faster) now.

But unfortunately, in the new Programmer's Reference (see p20-9 and p22-13) the change of the 'MaxReceivedMessageSize' to a much higher value has been forgotten. (See post 'Troubles while adding Service Reference', response by Adi, on 3rd Sept 2008.)

    Regards,

    Daniel
