May i know how to set up the alarm notifier to send email to me when the alarm is triggered?i have tried but didnot receive any email from the server so far..

From looking at google's info on the issue it appears that google's SMTP server requires TLS. The SmartServer's user guide does not mention TLS, only CRAM-MD5. I think you may be unable to use google's SMTP server with the SmartServer.

here in Germany I successfully tested it with the free email provider GMX.DE.

For GMX you need an account, with address etc. Unfortunately it has a German interface partially only.
