SmartServer reboots when network monitor running

    Hello,

we have currently three SmartServers running in our company. Everything worked fine until yesterday, when suddenly all SmartServers started to reboot again and again. They did that in cycles between 15 and 30min. We then realized, that the phenomenon ceased when the LAN was disconnected.

Then we found out, that the problem was due to the trial of a new 'Network Monitor' by our IT department. The network monitor may be found at www.mikrotik.com/thedude . As soon as that application was stopped, the problem was solved.

Now, we just decided not to use that network monitor anymore. But we are afraid, that our customers may use the same (or a similar) tool. We think that the SmartServer should be compatible with such tools.

Echelon, thank your for taking action.

    Best regards,

    Daniel

I just saw that Echelon released the SmartServer 2.0 Service Pack 1. You can download it from http://echelon.com/support/downloads...m=153-0313-01A.
According to the Readme Echelon i.LON SmartServer 2.0 Service Pack 1 ReadMe (Release 4.04) this issue seems to be fixed:

55915 In some cases a network monitor would cause the SmartServer to reboot.

Thanks for the hint. Although we stopped working with the network monitor, we are still happy to know there is a new SP for the SmatServer. We didn't realize that...

    Best regards,

    Daniel
